Are you accidentally poisoning your cat in 8+1 different ways?

Toxic and dangerous foods for your cat: What to watch out for!

Because they are so picky about their diets, we sometimes think that cats know what is best for them. But just because they shy away from a piece of stale meat doesn't mean they won't crave something else that can threaten their health, even their lives!

Unfortunately, inside the house there are many foods that are toxic to our kitty. Read on for what you should NEVER give your best friend, even if she's begging you by looking into your eyes!

1. TONE

A can of tuna is not so dangerous to your kitty that it will harm her directly. Sure, if she only eats tuna, she won't be getting the nutrients she needs to be healthy, but a little tuna won't directly affect her health. But too much tuna can give her mercury poisoning. So you better not teach her to eat, because then she just won't be able to stop.

2. ONION AND GARLIC

Onion in all its forms (powdered, raw or cooked) can destroy a cat's red blood cells, leading to anemia. This is even true of the onion powder found in some baby foods. Even worse, garlic, which is five times more potent than onion, can also cause serious health problems for your kitty.

3. MILK

The myth that a plate of milk is the best thing you can give a cat is not only untrue, but also dangerous. Cats lack the lactase enzyme, which makes them lactose intolerant, so that milk causes them serious disturbances in the gastrointestinal system. If you absolutely want to give milk to a cat, get a special preparation !

4. GRAPES AND RAISINS

Grapes and raisins are often used as pet treats. It's not a good idea, though, as they can cause kidney failure in cats. Even a small amount can make a kitty sick, causing her to vomit repeatedly.

5. CHOCOLATE

Chocolate can be fatal to cats, even in small amounts, as it contains the toxic agent thiobromine. Eating chocolate can cause abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures and death.

6. BONES

Another myth is that cats can eat all kinds of bones. Sure, their palates are harder than dogs and humans and that's why they can swallow fish bones, but the truth is that a cat can choke on a bone . Bones can also shatter inside the stomach and cause blockage or perforation of the cat's stomach or intestine.

7. SHOULDER OF MEAT, FISH AND EGG

Raw foods can contain bacteria that cause food poisoning , such as Escherichia coli. Additionally, an enzyme found in raw fish breaks down thiamine, which is an essential B vitamin for cats. Thiamine deficiency can cause serious neurological problems and lead to convulsions and coma.

8. DOG FEEDING

Eating a little bit of dog food once is not a problem for a cat. But dog food is not a substitute for the food cats should be eating. Sure, the two types of food have many ingredients in common, but cat food is specifically designed for a cat's needs, which include more protein as well as certain vitamins, fatty acids and essential amino acids (such as taurine). Constantly eating dog food can cause severe malnutrition in your cat.

Other very dangerous substances for your cat are alcohol and caffeine, as you might expect. Avoid giving your kitty anything other than her food and treats that are specially designed for her needs. At Petastero , you can find excellent treats for cats , which contain all the substances they need and take care of their teeth, coat, immune system and general good health.

Avoid the risk by choosing ONLY suitable foods for your cat!
